⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nicolas Cage on his Legacy, his Philosophy of Acting and his Metaphorical — and Literal — Search for the Holy Grail
“Rob Zombie once said to me, ‘Be as normal in your own life as you can be, so you can be as messed up as you want in your art.’”
I did not wake up thinking a Nic Cage interview would be today’s highlight but genuinely - here we are.
🍄💀 Interesting Moments with In-Laws
“Dear Polly, I have a very severe allergy to mushrooms.”
“Dear Prudence, a few months ago you answered my letter asking for advice regarding a situation involving my hateful mother-in-law, whom I suspected of tainting my food or drink at family functions at her home.”
👯♀️👨🏻 Full House Fakes
Deepfakes are not usually so innocent but wow this is impressive.
🐗🐗 More Feral Hog Content
“If you were to invent the perfect invasive animal, you could not do much better than a hog. Smarter than dogs and as fast as deer, they are also extremely tough.”

// a recommendation //
More than a few of you reached out with recommendations last week (thank you!) and the consistent theme was: go try out the library.
There’s one a couple blocks from our apartment, it is unsurprisingly free, and checking out books comes with a built-in shot clock. This former four-year CMU library employee (HEY CIRCULATION DESK!) was about to get reacquainted after a fifteen year hiatus… until my boss stopped over.
“Have you ever heard of Libby?”
Did you know your local library has thousands of ebooks and audiobooks? You can borrow them, instantly, for free, using just the device in your hand.
This was excellent advice, and I’m pleased to report the app lives up. Even better - if you live in Chicago - you can apply for an e-card online and be approved immediately. It took less than five minutes to get the card, type it into Libby, and start checking out e-books and audiobooks. What a terrific 2019 setup.
ALSO - hello, it’s me:
🤦♂️🤓🤫 Let’s just leave it at that. Thanks again!
