🙂 One of My Favorite Days of the Year
Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice. The darkest day on calendar. I was looking for a solstice poem (long story) to post in our work slack a couple years ago (long story) and encountered instead this blog post by Rabbi Rachel Barenblat. I think it about it quite often and wanted to share:
THE LONGEST NIGHT
We all tell ourselves stories
about grief to come.
Anticipating the dark
we think, how can I live
without the sun I turn toward?
We wrest what gifts we can
from the dying days.
One morning we wake
and the doorway we most dreaded
is behind us.
The ice may not recede
for months to come
but day by day
may there be more light.
Some hope for your holidays. Take care.
